50,882 online entrepreneurs register with CCM

CCM chief executive officer Datuk Zahrah Abdul Wahab Fenner said there was an increase in the trend of on-line business registration recorded since 2015 with an average of 1,000 business registrations monthly.

Ï notice that there is a growth in the business sector from year to year, especially the on-line business. However, from this total we estimate that there are still many on-line business entrepreneurs who have yet to register their business,

"CCM hopes more entrepreneurs will register with us to comply with the act stipulated and to protect the rights of consumers as purchasers because when there are cases of cheating, action can be taken against registered sellers, otherwise it will be difficult to take action,"she said when met at the official opening of the One CCM Carnival at the Penang level, here last night.

The three-day carnival which began on Friday aimed to assist entrepreneurs, especially on-line business operators to expand their business and was officiated by Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

At the event, a memorandum of understanding between CCM and Lazada was signed with Zahrah representing CCM while the e-commerce company was represented by its chief executive officer for Malaysia, Kevin Lee Fong Siang.
