Abdul Wahid Omar, Liew Kee Sin bag CEO awards
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar is one of two recipients who bagged the Value Creators: Malaysia's Outstanding Chief Executive Officer (CEOs) award at the Edge Billion Ringgit Club (BRC) and Corporate Awards 2013 Gala Dinner here on Monday.
Abdul Wahid was recognised for his leadership role when he was CEO at Malayan Banking Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd and Renong Bhd.
The other recipient of the award was President and CEO of S P Setia Bhd Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin.
Meanwhile, the Company of the Year award went to DiGi.com Bhd, one of Malaysia's biggest telecommunications company while CIMB Group Holdings Bhd won the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives Award.
The awards were presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The 4th BRC Corporate Awards 2013 is held annually to recognise Malaysia's biggest and best companies listed on Bursa Malaysia with a market capitalisation of at least RM1 billion.
To qualify as members of the BRC, a company must have a market capitalisation of at least RM1 billion as at March 31, 2013.
There are 144 companies in The Edge BRC this year.
Collectively, the companies make up 15 per cent of the total number of companies listed on Bursa Malaysia.
Their total market capitalisation as at March 31, 2013 was RM1.32 trillion, which accounted for 90 per cent of the total market capitalisation on Bursa Malaysia.
