SIRIM Bhd has appointed Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali as its new chairman effective today (May 20) to replace Datuk Jamaliah Kamis whose terms of service expires yesterday.
The three-year appointment was made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the Finance Minister through a letter of appointment recently, said SIRIM in a press statement Tuesday.
Prior to this appointment, Ahmad Tajuddin had helmed SIRIM from 1989 to 1996 as the Director-General of the organisation, which was then known as Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia.
Ahmad Tajuddin, 67, was born in Tambun Tulang, Perlis. He obtained his doctorate in Nuclear Engineering from Queen Mary College, University of London, in 1977.
