Ambank to take action against those spreading false news

Ambank Group will take action against those spreading false information and news about the group, its banking operations, as well as Chairman and employees.

The bank said this in reference to recent reports emanating from a blog.

"This was compounded by the republication of statements in other media publications, thereby gaining unwarranted attention and traction," it added.

The bank said it is bound by the Financial Services Act 2013 (FSA) and Islamic Financial Services Act 2013 (IFSA).

The FSA and IFSA are strict in their protection of client confidentiality.

"We have co-operated fully with the authorities in an open and transparent manner, and will continue to do so, while reassuring customers that the AmBank Group operates with high levels of integrity," its Chairman, Tan Sri Azman Hashim said in the statement.
