Registration for the rural people to apply for Rumah Bina Negara (BN) units is still open for those interested, said Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub.
He said the house was priced at RM65,000 a unit, but the government gave a RM20,000 subsidy for each house built.
"Participants will only need to pay a monthly installment of between RM250 and RM300 and eventually they will get their own houses," he told reporters after launching the state-level of Bina Negara homes in Kampung Lepan Kandis, Pulai Chondong here, today.
Also present were the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA) Policy and Strategic Planning director Sopian Abu Bakar.
At the event, a total of 20 families received a replica key of their Rumah BN respectively.
Ahmad Jazlan who is also Machang Member of Parliament said that each house had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen.
He said any individual who was interested in owning a BN house could obtain application forms at the nearby RISDA offices provided that they were earning less than RM4,000 per month in addition to having their own plot of land, aged 18 to 45 years old and married.
He said thus far, RISDA approved 497 out of 1,518 applications across the peninsula, while in Kelantan 18 units had been approved from 140 applications received.
Meanwhile, a Rumah BN owner Mohd Amir Rameli, 28, expressed his gratitude as his application submitted last year was approved.
Mohd Amir said that previously he had rented a house together with his wife and two children.
