Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad (ASTRO) recorded an 7% increase in its profit after tax to RM448 million for the financial year ended January 31 2014.
The positive growth was driven by a 12% increase in revenue to RM4.8 billion while maintaining double digit growth momentum.
Astro Chief Executive Officer Datuk Rohana Rozhan said the company has delivered its fourth consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue in FY2014.
"This is driven by expansion of the customer base, higher take-up of value-added products and services as well as advertising expenditure growth," she told media briefing on the company's financial year results, Monday.
Following its positive financial performance, ASTRO has declared a fourth interim dividend of 2.0 sen per share and an additional proposed final dividend of 1.0 sen, subject to shareholder’s approval.
This makes a total dividend of 9.0 sen per share for the financial year following ASTRO’s 2 sen per share dividend the previous quarter.
During the same financial year, ASTRO recorded an increase of customers of 400,000, bringing the total number of customers to 3.9 million.
It covers 56% of the household segment through 442,000 Njoi customers and the rest are pay-TV customers.
Meanwhile, ASTRO also aims to strengthen the sports broadcast content via a live screening of the 64 FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 matches via it’s high definition (HD) channels and through its tablet, smartphone, and computer applications.
