Direct selling cosmetic company, Avon Malaysia, is optimistic the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will have a positive impact on its bottom line. Head of Commercial Marketing at Avon Malaysia Aspalin Sirat said the new tax regime actually offered the company the opportunity to come up with various marketing plans and dynamic financial administration. "All staffers have undergone rigorous training in order for them to understand the basic rudiments of the tax. We are also confident sales will continue to grow. "We are communicating with customers through the social media and direct interaction with walk-in customers at our boutiques on the GST and how we are handling price increases at Avon," she told Bernama. Aspalin said Avon was confident it would be able to explain the new tax regime in detail to customers apart from informing them that the GST has been factored into the price of every Avon product. "Customers need not worry as Avon products are normally offered at a discount of between 10 per cent and 50 per cent," he said. Aspalin assured customers that Avon has maintained the price of favorite and popular items such as eyeliners and other cosmetic and skin care products. She added that Avon was confident the company would see a growth in turnover this year, despite the current economic uncertainty, and given the attractive array of skin care and cosmetic products offered by Avon. Avon retails its extensive variety of products which includes wellness products, bath and body care, hair care, cosmetics, lingerie and jewellery globally through more than 6,000 dealers in 100 countries.
