BlackBerry aims to be the number 2 player in Malaysia by year end
BlackBerry hopes to regain loss ground in the Malaysian smartphone market share this year, partly helped by its new BlackBerry Z10 and the soon-to-be-launched BlackBerry Q10.
According to news report, the country's top two players in the smartphone market are Samsung and Apple, with BlackBerry believed to be in the third position.
"We are aiming to be clinch the number 2 position by end of this year. I believe it's an achievable target.
"We are backed by new devices, we have a very powerful platform and operating system. Our team are all geared up to work towards to achieve the goal," said Annamalai Muthu, country director, Malaysia and Brunei.
Over the next two months, the company will be embarking on aggressive promotional activities -- including 20 roadshows.
Annamalai added that the company also hopes to launch the BlackBerry Q10 - a device that features a qwerty keypad - some time middle of this year.
The BlackBerry Z10 smartphone features a 1.5Ghz dual core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 64GB cards.
The smartphone also includes the latest enhancements in high density pixel and screen technology to display clear, sharp and incredibly vivid images. It also has a micro HDMI out port for presentations, and advanced sensors such as NFC (near field communications) to support mobile payments and the exchange of information with a tap of the smartphone.
