BMW Group Malaysia plans to expand its BMW Premium Selection (BPS) network in Malaysia in five years, Auto Bavaria Managing Director Dean Brigham said on Tuesday.
"For this year, our Auto Bavaria BPS at Glenmarie, the only stand-alone BPS showroom, has sold about 800 BMWs so far from 680 last year," he said.
The group currently has five outlets under the BPS network.
Brigham said the number of customers is increasing, showing that there is a trend for people to buy only the finest pre-owned BMW vehicles that are afforded the BPS status.
"The selected BPS vehicles will get the service from BMW dealers using only the genuine BMW parts," he said, adding there is a 72-point technical check that must be completed by each BPS vehicle before selling them to customers.
The managing director said that not all BMW cars could be placed in the BPS programme, as only selected cars, which are capped at five years old or clocked below 125,000 kilometres, would be qualified for sale.
According to Brigham, the company sells the best quality vehicles. "By knowing the history of the car, it can determine whether the BPS vehicles needed some repair or just a cosmetic touch."
The BPS vehicles also have a minimum of 12-month warranty, he said.
"The customer will have a peace of mind when they enter our BPS showroom. It is no different than the new BMW vehicles showroom," he added.
Asked on the BPS' contribution to the total BMW sales in Malaysia, Brigham said the company was focusing more on customers' satisfaction instead of sales.
