BMW Group Malaysia aims to sell 50 units of the newly-launched 3 Series Gran Turismo by year-end, said its head of corporate communications Sashi Ambi at the car's launch here today.
He said it has always been the company's strategy to bring in new models as fast as possible to Malaysia to cater to the dynamic market.
Sales of BMW Group Malaysia grew 4.8 per cent to 2239 units in the first quarter of 2013 (January to April) compared to 2137 units in the same quarter last year.
The unit sales comprised 1970 BMW, 121 Mini and 148 Motorrad units.
"The new model has a unique concept that combines a sporty coupe-like vehicle design with generous space and functionality and is expected to strengthen BMW's position.
"The 3 GT will continue to strengthen our position as the most innovative carmaker in the premium segment and we are confident that it will be a positive contributor to our business success in 2013," said BMW Group Malaysia chief executive officer Dr. Gerhard Pils.
Pils noted that the strength of BMW Group in Malaysia is also a result of the strength of its premium dealership network.
The company now has 29 dealerships nationwide with the introduction of the latest Ingress Auto BMW 4S (Sales, Services, Spare parts and Systems) outlet in Puchong.
The 328i Gran Turismo Sport is priced at RM348,800 (Peninsular Malaysia) and RM351,804.80 (East Malaysia).
