The schools in Malaysia cannot prepare students for the ‘working world’, according majority of those who voted in a poll on the education system.

The poll is part of Astro AWANI’s weekly survey on various topics in the lead up to Budget 2014 next month.

Last week, astroawani.com asked readers: “What do you think of the current education system?” and “Why do you send your kids to tuition classes?”

For the first question, those who voted for “Insufficient to prepare students for real life.” followed by “too examination oriented” constituted close to 70% while less than 6% voted for it being “very comprehensive”.

Meanwhile, here are some of the comments found on the Government’s initiative to gather public feedback on the budget (http://www.1malaysia.com.my/bajet2014)

One Eman Yazid posted that all communities should all go to one national school.

“Learning about racial difference should start from the root. I long (for) the day when a Malaysian can speak 3 different languages, Malay, Chinese and Indian.”

Another commenter, Mohd Khairul Idzham said that there should be free access to all libraries and online global libraries access.

“We should have open our libraries to public, including faculty's libraries in all public and private institutions. this would encourage and nurture our people's creative mind across all walks of life.”
