The government's decision to optimise Budget 2016 spending will not affect measures to help reduce the cost of living, Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said.
"We will not compromise on the measures are taken as the welfare of the people comes first.
"So, they are not included in the revision of Budget 2016," he told reporters after taking part in preparing meals for the homeless at Jamek Mosque, Kampung Baru here today.
He was commenting on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's statement that he would table the revision soon, and that the changes would be more “realistic” to suit the present economic situation.
About 500 packets of foods and drinks were distributed to the homeless at the event organised by Sahabat Alam Maya Malaysia.
Ahmad, who is also Umno information chief, said a forum entitled '#tambahpendapatanrakyat' (putting more money into people's pocket) would be held on Jan 17.
