Budget 2016 to strengthen economy to meet challenges - Najib
NAJIB: Budget 2016 will ensure preference for the well-being of the people, especially the provision of affordable housing and reasonable cost of living.
Budget 2016 being drawn up by the government will contain additional measures to strengthen the competitiveness of the national economy to meet global and domestic challenges, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Najib, who is also the finance minister, said Budget 2016, which would be tabled in Parliament on Oct 23, would also ensure preference for the well-being of the people, especially the provision of affordable housing and reasonable cost of living.
"Development projects will be restructured with priority given to projects that have a multiplier value and high local content and are able to generate employment and high income," he said when announcing proactive economic measures here today.
The prime minister gave the assurance that optimum expenditure would be implemented without jeopardising the delivery of government services.
"I'm sure we will be able to weather the current challenges if we are united, pool our resources and believe in our ability. God willing," he said.
