A cost-benefit analysis study on the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) has been completed and will be presented to the cabinet on Friday (Nov 27), said International Trade and Industry deputy minister, Datuk Ahmad Maslan.
He said the report would be presented earlier at the Ministry level on Monday night.
"The cost-benefit analysis report prepared by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) will be presented to the cabinet and distributed to MPs next week," he said when winding up debate on the Supply Bill 2016 at the committee level for the ministry in Dewan Rakyat here, Monday.
Ahmad Maslan, who is also the member of parliament for Pontian said the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) would also hold a TPPA related caucus meeting in the near future besides having two town hall sessions with the public this December and January.
He said MITI would give a special briefing to all members of parliament in mid-January before a special Dewan Rakyat session to debate on the TPPA.
"We are now waiting for the special Dewan Rakyat session date for the debate from Tan Sri Speaker (Pandikar Amin Mulia) before the agreement is finalised," he said.
He added that in the meantime the government would continue with the briefing sessions on the TPPA to stakeholders, 15 ministries and government agencies related to the TPPA.
