Courts, Asia's leading retailer of electrical, IT and furniture, celebrated the launch of a new store in Amanjaya, Sungai Petani, Kedah, last Saturday, bringing the total number of stores in Malaysia to 60.

In a statement, Courts said over 2,000 consumers were seen queuing for opening store specials from as low as RM5.

Comprising three floors and over 1,300 sq. m., Courts hopes the introduction of this new store will strengthen its store portfolio while contributing to the development of the Amanjaya township.

"We could not be more pleased with the turnout of support in Amanjaya. An exciting venture for Courts, we're fortunate to extend our offerings of the finest quality products for the lowest competitive prices available on the market, to all Malaysians in the northern region," said Courts Malaysia Country Director Allard Sjollema.

Courts Asia Ltd, the holding company for Courts (Singapore) Pte Ltd and Courts (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, has been listed on the Main Board of the Singapore Exchange since October 2012.

With its roots as a UK furniture retailer, the Courts brand was established in Singapore and Malaysia in 1974 and 1987 respectively.

Courts, which operates more than 70 stores across both markets with over 92,900 sq. m. of retail space, will be expanding into Indonesia, with the first Megastore operational by 2014.
