Negeri Sembilan MCA has urged the DAP to stop making slanderous comments on the foreign investments brought in by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
Its chairman, Datuk Seri Lim Chin Fui said as a country which practiced openness on foreign trade, it was important for developing countries such as Malaysia to adopt trade openness.
"Through open trade, Malaysia's economy can grow and develop rapidly. From the past to the present, regardless of China, Japan or the United States, Malaysia welcomes all forms of investments.
"As an export-oriented country, Malaysia is deeply reliant on international trade. For a long time, Malaysia's trade policies sought to create more openness and an equitable global trading environment," he said in a statement here, today.
Lim, who is also the Deputy Chairman of MCA SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) Bureau, said the government would actively promote the development of Malaysia's economy as long as the development and policies would benefit the nation.
"As a political party and member of the ruling federal government, MCA serves as a conduit among the nations, assisting people to participate in the 'Belt and Road Initiative' and assist domestic enterprises to conduct businesses offshore," he said.
The MCA Belt and Road Centre (Mbrace) was launched in December last year which aims to enable entrepreneurs from Malaysia and China to grab opportunities through information exchange as well as business matching.
Party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai was reported as saying the centre would serve as a platform to assist the private sector, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to participate and benefit from the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by the Government of China. - BERNAMA
