The Edge confirms receiving show cause letter from Home Ministry
The Edge Media Group was accused of publishing articles on 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
The Edge Media Group has sought an extension of seven days to reply in detail to a show cause letter from the Home Ministry on why action should not be taken against Edge Malaysia and the Edge Financial Daily under the Printing Presses and Publication Act 1984 for publishing alleged inaccurate articles on 1MDB.
Its Publisher and Chief Executive Officer Ho Kay Tat in a media statement here Wednesday said that they had received a show cause letter from the Home Ministry yesterday which has given them seven days to provide a written explanation on the matter.
"We are accused of publishing articles on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) that have created confusion and doubts about the government and our financial institutions. We are also accused of relying on an Internet portals for our articles.
"As we have stated previously, we stand by the articles we have published and we intend to show it," he said.
