The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) would help entrepreneurs of herb-based beauty and health products to market their goods locally and internationally.

Its chairman Tan Sri Badruddin Amiruldin said FAMA would reserve a stall at its Agro Malls nationwide for local herbal products.

"However, the products must first be certified safe for consumers by the Health Ministry before being marketed," he told reporters after launching the Herbs Promotion Programme at the Farmers' Market at Section 13 here today.

He said Fama also planned to open more agro malls abroad particularly in neighbouring countries to expand the market for local products.

Fama currently has an agro mall branch in Singapore, he said at the function which was also attended by D'Herbs cosmetic product founder, Datuk Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman and Fama director-general, Datuk Ahmad Ishak.

Meanwhile, Aliff Syukri said he started his first business venture at a farmers' market, nine years ago.

"The farmers' market is the most suitable place for a person to start a business as the rental for the site is low while the crowd is big," he said.
