Country Garden Pacificview (CGP), the joint venture company of mega-property project Forest City in Johor Bahru, launched the first Industrial Building System or IBS factory for the company here today.
CGP chief executive officer Su Baiyuan said the factory is the largest in its kind in Malaysia.
"The reason behind its set up is to supply the demand of IBS to support the development of Forest City," he said.
IBS is a faster way of doing construction. And Forest City needs to eventually build 20 square KM of reclaimed land off the shores of Johor Bahru.
That is roughly building reclaimed land, a quarter the size of Petaling Jaya, in the next 20 to 30 years on the ocean.
Forest City said the IBS factory will produce 260,000 cubic metres of materials that will cover one million square meters of built area.
Baiyuan added "CGP has invested RM470 million to build the IBS factory.
"It will have the latest technology from Germany and China and will be environmentally friendly".
