The government's target is to get 140,000 companies to register before the Dec 31 deadline under the new tax structure to be implemented on April 1, 2015.
Meanwhile, Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said on average, about 2,200 companies have been registering for the GST each week.
