The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will focus its anti-corruption efforts on the banking sector, said Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Mustafar Ali.
He said as part of these efforts, MACC will meet with the Association of Islamic Banking Institutions (AIBIM) soon to explain MACC's roles and functions as well as efforts to combat corruption.
"A two-way discussion between MACC and AIBIM will be held after this to enhance this close cooperation," he said in a statement here Monday.
MACC held a luncheon talk at Putrajaya Monday on the Islamic banking sector's role in fighting corruption.
"We hope that the integrated efforts will reduce corruption, improve the corruption perception index in the banking industry and boost public confidence in MACC," it said.
