Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) had a meeting with the Saudi authorities on Monday to discuss a bid to manage the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

The move was announced by Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi via his Twitter account.

"Malaysia Airports will join a bid to manage and operate the King AbdulAziz International Airport, Jeddah," he wrote.

He said Malaysia Airports has extensive experience in managing international airports including in Hyderabad and Istanbul.

Ab Aziz, who was also at the meeting in Jeddah, said is confident in Malaysia Airports' capabilities and hope it will achieve positive results.

Last year, Malaysia Airports announced that it will actively seek opportunities to expand services and gain equity in airports around the world.
