The traditional iconic kebaya, which has been associated as the strongest symbol of Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB), will not be changed.
According to reports from Malaysian Reserve, MAB CEO Peter Bellew said the uniform which was designed in 1986 will remain, despite earlier plans for a revamp as part of the rebranding exercise.
"The kebaya design created by the School of Fashion of the Institute Teknologi MARA, is very popular and will remain unchanged," said Bellew.
Earlier this year, the company announced a partnership with Malaysian designer Datuk Farah Khan to design the full range of uniforms of various department, including it's flight deck, cabin crew, airport and engineer outfits.
However, following the announcement, there has been growing concerns amongst the airline's loyalist and staff especially since the kebaya has been synonymous with Malaysia Airlines for more than 30 years.
Observers has said the decision is a sign the company wants to focus on operations efficiency and keep some of the company's original charm.
