Malaysia will be more competitive under the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.
The prime minister said this was stated by representatives of the US-APEC Business Council at its meeting with members of the US-ASEAN Business Council and the US Chambers of Commerce in Manila, Tuesday.
"They also look forward to other ASEAN countries following Malaysia's footsteps in joining the TPP.
"The business representatives also expressed their appreciation to Malaysia for our efforts in completing the negotiations and we are now in the domestic ratification process," he said in a posting on his Facebook tonight.
Najib said the representatives of the US-APEC Business Council also commended Malaysia for its business-friendly approach and were satisfied with the return of their investments in Malaysia.
The accolade and confidence expressed by the business representatives proved that the government policies, such as the Economic Transformation Policy, is effective and well received by foreign countries, particularly the business community.
The prime minister is in Manila to attend the 23rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit.
