Malindo Air, recent winners of Airline of the Year 2014 and Top Performing Airline 2015 awards, continues its expansion plans by launching daily services today from Kuala Lumpur to Colombo.
The daily services to Sri Lanka mark the airline's ninth country in its international network expansion.
Introductory fares for the new route from Kuala Lumpur to Colombo start at RM339 for Economy Class and RM579 for Business Class one-way all inclusive. The promotional fares include perks such as free baggage allowance, in-flight entertainment, a meal and light refreshments.
Flight OD 185 departs KLIA2 at 10pm and arrives Colombo at 10.55pm.
With a time difference of two hours and thirty minutes, the flight time between Kuala Lumpur and Colombo will take 3 hrs 25mins. The narrow-body Boeing 737-800ER aircraft with a seat capacity of 162, with 12 Business Class and 150 Economy Class seats, was deployed on the new services.
“Colombo, as our new destination, marks another profound milestone for all of us at Malindo Air, and the launch of today’s inaugural flight to Colombo highlights a new era in our young airline’s journey,” said Chandran Rama Muthy, CEO of Malindo Air.
“Whilst it’s true that as we continue to expand, we are taking more people on more aircraft to more places, we have to continue our efforts to provide the best service for our customers as travel itself has changed; it has
become a process of enrichment, of self-discovery, of life-changing moments and
fulfilling ambitions.”
“Tourism is a huge sector of the Malaysian economy. Tourism contributed RM72 billion to our country’s revenue. It’s almost the end of the year. Malaysia’s target for tourist arrivals this year is 27.9 million, and we hope our rapid expansion can help contribute to the nation’s tourism development, and economic
growth,” Chandran said.
He added that Malindo Air is working very closely with Tourism Malaysia and a wide variety of attractions will be promoted in Sri Lanka, namely, the F1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix, 1Malaysia Mega Sales, Borneo Jazz Festival, LEGO Land theme park as well as exciting eco-tourism spots like Belum Forest, Mulu Caves and Mount Kinabalu.
