Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has been ranked 256 in Newsweek's Global 500 Green Rankings 2015, said the magazine and website.
It was also the top ASEAN financial institution in the ranking, it said.
The Newsweek Global 500 Green Rankings 2015 is part of the Newsweek Green Rankings which consist of two separate categories.
The US 500 Green Rankings rank the 500 largest publicly-traded companies in the US by market capitalisation, while the Global 500 Green Rankings look at the 500 largest publicly-traded companies globally by market capitalisation as determined by Bloomberg as of March 4, 2015.
According to the website, the rankings were one of the world's most recognised assessments of corporate environmental performance.
The rankings structure consisted of 10 sectors, 24 industry groups, 68 industries and 154 sub-industries, into which global companies were categorised, it said.
It said eight main factors were taken into account to assess and measure the performance including carbon, energy, water, waste, and the extent to which internal governance was geared towards sustainability, it said.
