Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) will provide a six-month microcredit training to the women in Mindanao to help them elevate their social economic status in that region, says its Board of Trustees Chairman, Datuk Amihamzah Ahmad.
Realising the potential of the small traders in Mindanao, AIM wants to play an important role and work closely by sharing and delivering whatever expertise it has.
"Apart from that, they will also send their people here to get hands-on training and experience in microcredit," he told reporters after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) here Thursday.
Amihamzah said AIM had helped neighbourhood countries such as Brunei and Indonesia.
Under the MoU, AIM will support the entrepreneurship, alleviate poverty and at the same time empower the women communities there.
