MUSTAPA: MITI wants to do more to increase investments as well as support trading activities, especially among small and medium enterprises
The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has submitted proposals to the government for consideration in Budget 2017.
The proposals, said its Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, revolve around strengthening the country's economy.
"Our proposals have been structured in a manner that we believe can help spur Malaysia's economic growth.
"We want to do more to increase investments as well as support trading activities, especially among small and medium enterprises," he added.
He was speaking to reporters after launching the ministry's Open Day here Monday.
Mustapa said Budget 2017, to be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in Parliament this Friday, is the biggest economic instrument of the year and an important document.
"Among the issues highlighted is the cost of doing business. We hope this issue can be addressed as companies are becoming anxious and less competitive, which is impacting exports," he added. -- Bernama
