Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd said Thursday that it will build an incineration plant with the world's largest processing capacity in Shanghai, Japan's Jiji Press reported.
The Japanese machinery and plant maker's wholly owned subsidiary received the 11 billion yen (US$98.94 million) plant order from the city of Shanghai jointly with a local company.
According to Mitsubishi Heavy, the plant, scheduled to be delivered to a site adjacent to Pudong International Airport in eastern Shanghai in July 2018, will have eight incinerators that can treat 6,000 tons of general waste per day in total.
The company aims to receive more orders for large-scale incineration plants in China, where waste-burning demand is expected to grow.
