M'sia can achieve 4-5% GDP growth this year
International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde is confident that Malaysia will be able to realise its targeted four to five per cent gross domestic product growth this year.
Lagarde said she was impressed with the country's growth record and its transformation into an emerging market economy.
"Yes, I think so," she said when responding to a question on whether Malaysia will be able to achieve its GDP growth target for this year.
Lagarde is on her first visit to Malaysia as the IMF chief.
Earlier, Lagarde said she had a fruitful meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
She said they discussed various issues particularly on the world economy.
Lagarde is on her three-nation tour of Southeast Asia, which will take her to the Philippines and Cambodia after Malaysia.
