Mydin opens 5 new supermarkets this year

The new supermarkets are going to be in Malacca, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan and two in Sarawak.
Mydin Holdings is opening five new supermarkets this year including one each in Negeri Sembilan, Kedah and Malacca and two in Sarawak.
Its Northern Region general manager, Azmin Saduruddin, said the new supermarkets comprise one each in Pulau Sebang in Malacca (with an investment of RM128 million); Taman Batik in Sungai Petani, Kedah (RM53 million); and in Semariang in Kuching (RM50 million) and Mydin City One (RM50 million) in Sarawak.
Its supermarket in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan (RM130 million) opened today.
He said the four supermarkets under construction are expected to open in August, September, October and November.
Besides creating job opportunities for locals, the new supermarkets also offer reasonable prices, he told reporters after a buka puasa and handing over of aid to 50 orphans from the Nibong Tebal parliamentary constituency at Mydin Mall here yesterday by Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister for the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER).
Azmin said Mydin, which now has 318 branches nationwide, is holding Ramadan bazaars throughout the fasting month besides Ramadan and Hari Raya promotions.
To a question, he said Myduin has no problems with supplies of essential items such as chicken for the festive season.
