Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is making a day trip to Rajasthan to oversee Malaysia's participation in India's infrastructure projects and to explore investment opportunities.
Accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, the prime minister arrived here at 11.23am from New Delhi where he had a fruitful meeting with his counterpart Narendra Modi on Saturday.
His delegation also includes Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam and International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
During the brief visit, Najib met Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje Scindia at Taj Rambagh, the former residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur.
He later attended a high-level discussion on the progress of Malaysian companies in infrastructure projects, as well as investment opportunities in the state.
It is learnt that Malaysian firms are making bids for several highway projects in Rajasthan, the largest state in India and bordering Pakistan.
At a joint press conference with Najib in New Delhi yesterday, Modi invited Malaysian companies to tap the vast business opportunities, including India's plan to set up 100 smart cities and many infrastructure projects. -- Bernama
