NUR JAZLAN: There is no concrete proof that 1MDB is facing any problem
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has no plans to call 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) to answer questions because its financial performance has been audited by an international audit firm.
PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said, nevertheless, PAC welcomed any move by the new President and group executive director Arul Kanda Kandasamy to appear voluntarily to give an explanation on its investment and the operation of 1MDB to PAC.
"We will not call 1MDB but if Arul Kanda wants to appear voluntarily to give an explanation to PAC, he is welcomed to do so," he said in a statement Sunday.
He said, to date, PAC believes 1MDB's financial position was problem-free as it had already been audited by a renowned international firm, and there was no concrete proof that the company was facing any problem.
1MDB, a strategic development company which is fully-owned by the Malaysian Government, had announced on Jan 13 that it had fully redeemed the US$2.318 billion (RM8.11 billion) invested with a registered fund in the Cayman Islands.
