Nokia to recapture Malaysian market with new smartphones
James Rutherfoord said the smartphones marked the beginning of an exciting new era for Nokia.
Nokia aims to recapture Malaysian market share with the roll-out of its latest Android-powered smartphones, the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 here today.
HMD Global, the exclusive licensee of the Nokia brand of mobile phones and tablets, said the trio of Android devices would be available at local retails stores from mid June.
Vice-President for Asia Pacific, James Rutherfoord said the smartphones, which combined superior craftsmanship, distinctive design and features with a pure Android experience, marked the beginning of an exciting new era for Nokia.
"We want to be a top global smartphone player in the next few years, and right now, have set up offices in 50 countries, including Malaysia," he told a press conference after the product launch.
Finland's Nokia commanded a substantial market share of the global mobile phone segment in the 90s with its best-selling models, which included the Nokia 3310.
HMD Global's Country Manager for Malaysia and Myanmar Vijay Thangavelu said the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 would be priced at RM599, RM799 and RM999 respectively.
The company will be rolling out the revamped iconic Nokia 3310 to retail at RM239 in the first week of June.
