The Royal Malaysian Customs Department has not authorised any party to give talks on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on its behalf.
Sabah Customs director Datuk Dr Janathan Kandok said only officers from customs department were authorised to give talks and carry out GST registration.
"No charge is imposed for GST registration. Please lodge a report with the customs department if anyone imposes charges," he said in a statement here today.
Janathan said the announcement was made because there were reports that certain quarters were giving talks and imposing charges for GST registration which would be enforced on April 1, next year.
Prior to this, he said registration could be carried out online via the website www..gst.customs.gov.my, other than the Sabah Customs office via the MyGST Registration KIOSK at several locations which would be announced from time to time.
On July 25, the customs department urged commercial companies and individuals carrying out businesses to register under the GST before Dec 31, this year to avoid action against them.
