The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) was made with the consensus by all of its 14 members, including Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua.
PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin explained if the committee reached a consensus requiring an evaluation of a document or statement from a witness, he as chairman would ensure that it was done.
"At that stage, if there were any members of the committee who felt the need to obtain more detailed information, they would have said so in the proceedings conducted, the main objective of which was to provide a detailed analysis of 1MDB's transactions to be presented to Parliament," he said in a statement today.
He said throughout the PAC proceedings, the committee must comply with all standard operating procedures as set forth in the Standing Orders to ensure that investigations are carried out independently and impartially.
"All members of the PAC by consensus have indicated clearly without any compulsion and doubt and it has been recorded in the minutes of the proceedings, the report prepared and its findings," he said.
Pua is reported to have said that he was only 80 per cent satisfied with the committee's report on 1MDB. The DAP national publicity secretary also said the PAC probe into 1MDB became difficult after the change of chairman of the committee.
The PAC, which is comprised of government and opposition MPs, tabled its report on 1MDB in Parliament on Thursday.
