PAS: Sungai Limau by-election should be called before tabling of Budget 2014

PAS wants the Sungai Limau state by-election to be called before the tabling of the Budget 2014 scheduled for Oct 25.
Its vice-president, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, said the by-election should be carried out as soon as possible to prevent negative perception that the government would use the budget to canvass for votes, especially by giving out cash aid to the people.
"The Election Commission (EC) need not to wait until Thursday to convene a meeting concerning the vacant Sungai Limau state seat," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby here on Monday.
Mahfuz, who is also Kedah PAS Commissioner, said the by-election should also be carried out soon to prevent collision with UMNO elections and PAS Muktamar.
UMNO elections are scheduled to be held on Oct 12 and 19, while PAS Muktamar is set on Oct 30.
The Sungai Limau state seat fell vacant following the death of incumbent Tan Sri Azizan Razak (PAS) on Sept 26.
