The role of the Performance Management Delivery Unit (Pemandu) is still needed by the government in efforts to speed up the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and Economic Transformation
Programme (ETP).
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Razali Ibrahim said Pemandu had value-added element, includng monitoring the implementation of these programmes by the "Big Fast Results' (BFR) way.
However, he said, there was room for improvement as the government welcomed weaknesses raised on Pemandu.
"With regard to its establishment and concept, it is aimed at boosting the role of the ministries in implementing and measuring the Key Performance Indicators(KPI).
"Pemandu also assists in finding quick solutions to problems faced, besides evaluating the progress of the government programmes.
"Nevertheless, in the process of implementation, inevitably there will be overlapping of functions among the agencies.
"However, with cooperation and understanding, the solutions discussed and their implementation could be expedited," he said when winding up the debate on the Supply Bill 2015 in the Dewan Rakyat, here, today.
The Dewan Rakyat sitting continues tomorrow.
