Petronas today contributed RM200,000 to two art schools to assist in their endeavour to preserve, nurture and promote Malaysian traditional performing arts especially among the younger generation.
In a statement issued by Petronass Corporate Affairs Divison, the two schools are Sekolah Seni Malaysia Johor Bahru and Sekolah Seni Malaysia Kuching, with each school receiving RM100,000.
The contributions were presented to the schools representatives by Petronass Senior General Manager (Group Corporate Affairs Division) Datuk Mohammad Medan Abdullah.
"Petronas hopes the contributions will help both schools in continuous efforts to nurture, preserve and promote Malaysia’s rich and diverse traditional arts and heritage," the statement said.
Sekolah Seni Malaysia is a formal single-session learning institute with facilities to nurture students’ potential and talent to actively and creatively participate in arts and cultural activities.
Its philosophy is to develop the students through integrated and systematic learning modules that would produce art and cultural practitioners who are both knowledgeable and passionate about preserving Malaysia’s cultural heritage.
