Pelaburan Mara Bhd (PMB) has recorded a pre-tax profit and zakat of RM18.7 million for 2016 compared to RM4.7 million in 2015, said Chairman, Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said current education endowment fund managed by PMB was RM751 million, an increase of capital injection of RM700 million.
Annuar said this after attending the Corporate Discourse: Ideas on Upholding Amanah Rakyat with MARA staff here on Monday.
He said the RM30 million from the fund's profits would be to sponsor Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia students who wanted to continue their studies in and out of the country.
Meanwhile, Annuar said 25 MARA subsidiaries had generated a revenue of RM1.3 billion and pre-tax profit of RM31 million last year with PNB contributing 60 per cent of the pre-tax profit.
From the 25 subsidiaries, 19 active ones have created 5,000 job opportunities.
He said RM30 million from the fund's profit will be channeled to support students interested to further their studies locally and internationally after completing the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Annuar said, 25 MARA subsidiaries have generated about RM1.3 billion revenue and RM31 million in profits before tax last year with 19 active subsidiaries creating some 5,000 job opportunities.
