The Communications and Multimedia Ministry will strive to ensure that all its agencies continue to maintain excellence in service delivery.
Its minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak cited among the agencies as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and Pos Malaysia Berhad.
He said such effort was in line with Malaysia's commitment under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
"The ministry realises the importance of a modern postal network in e-commerce ecosystem development including in rural areas.
"To this end, various initiatives and transformations are being implemented jointly by MCMC and Pos Malaysia," he said in a statement, in conjunction with World Post Day tomorrow.
The transformations, he said, included the Rural Community Postman programme in Sabah and Sarawak, Address For All (AFA) programme and Registered Postal Agent service at selected 1Malaysia internet centres.
Salleh also extended his appreciation to the postal workforce nationwide for their dedication and synergy in serving as a link and catalyst for the well-being of the people in the urban and rural areas.
He said the postal service in Malaysia had reached a laudable level as shown by the various global recognition it had received.
He noted that Malaysia had been chosen to serve in the Universal Postal Union (UPU)'s Council of Administration for 2017-2020 to ensure implementation of various programmes under the Istanbul Postal Strategy.
Salleh further noted that Malaysia had been awarded Gold for International Express Mail Service and Level A* (A-Star) for quality management in International Mail Services.
The awards were accepted by the Malaysian delegation at the Istanbul UPU Congress which was held between Sept 20 and yesterday.
