National courier, PosLaju Malaysia expects to garner some 10 per cent contribution from its services in Sarawak and Sabah, said Pos Malaysia Bhd group chief operating officer Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh.
Realising the market opportunities offered by the two states, he said PosLaju would strive to increase its various fast delivery activities as well as improve its service value.
"PosLaju has two special flights to bring goods from Sarawak and Sabah to the peninsula. Each flight has a capacity of 18 tonnes, however, at present both flights can only take about 50 per cent of the total capacity.
"We are confident the introduction of prepaid envelope and box for PosLaju delivery service from Sarawak and Sabah to the peninsula will contribute to the increase in the company's income," he told a press conference after the launch of the service here, Sunday.
PosLaju launched the product in the peninsula in April last year and is now expanding the service to Sarawak and Sabah after seeing the potential as well as encouraging demand for such service.
PosLaju has raked in a profit of RM21 million since the launch of the service in the peninsula.
Mohd Shukrie said PosLaju was targeting a profit of RM2.7 million in the first year of its operations in Sarawak and Sabah.
"We are confident of achieving the target based on the high demand of the products, especially for those who capitalise on online transactions, which is expanding in the two states," he said.
He said the prepaid envelope and box would facilitate online business in terms of offering delivery that is easy and cost-effective.
"PosLaju Prepaid will assist online entrepreneurs in ensuring that the delivery costs charged to customers are not too low or too high," he said.
