Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana)'s ongoing initiatives as the leader of public transport in Malaysia has received international recognition at the 7th Middle East Business Leaders Awards (MEBLA) 2016 in London on Feb 17.
The recognition, which did Malaysia proud, saw Prasarana won the Excellence Leadership and Infrastructure Development award at the event organised by The Leaders International, a high impact business magazine based in Malaysia and the American Leadership Development Association based in the United States.
Prasarana president and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Azmi Abdul Aziz was present to receive the award.
The award to Prasarana was the outcome of an evaluation on the operational management and public transport infrastructure development, including the LRT alignment extension project which was officially opened in June last year, the first Bus Rapid Transit system on the first phase route in Southeast Asia and the fully electronic bus in Bandar Sunway.
Azmi said the award was in recognition of Prasarana's efforts to help in rejuvenating the public transport industry in the country.
"This award will raise our committment and dedication to fully realise the transformation agenda and encourage us to work harder," he said in a statement here today.
A total of 123 nominations from 17 countries were received involving 32 categories, among others, information technology, publishing, health and public transport. -- Bernama
