Pressure on ringgit, Bursa Malaysia continues amidst global slowdown

The local currency depreciated some 26.4 percent against the US dollar as at end of September 2015.
The ringgit continues to be pressured by flailing commodity and crude oil prices worldwide.
According to the 2015/2016 Economic Report, the local currency depreciated some 26.4 percent against the US dollar as at end of September 2015.
The ringgit also depreciated 17 percent against the Euro and 19.3 percent against the Japanese Yen in the same period.
Meanwhile, the performance of the Bursa Malaysia also declined from 1846.31 points to 1621.04 points year-on-year in September 2015.
Market capitalisation dipped to RM1.6 trillion from RM1.7 trillion in the same period last year.
