The public will be able to reap the benefits of the new fuel prices rationalisation.
That is the indication by Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan about the new tariff for petrol and diesel which will take effect tomorrow.
The announcement of the new cycle of oil tariff for February is to be made by the Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) at 8pm on Saturday, said Ahmad Maslan at the closing ceremony of Social Media (First Series) Writing Course organised by Puteri UMNO at a hotel here on Friday.
In his speech, Ahmad Maslan said that UMNO leaders should use the influence of social media for the public to realise what they are doing.
He also said that the usage of social media is important as traditional media is slowly losing out.
“Social media will become the mainstream. UMNO leaders must be IT-savvy to avoid from being left out especially to obtain access to voters,” said Ahmad Maslan.
He also commented on allegations that certain quarters have been involved in attempting to sabotage the economy and responsible in the mismanagement of the country’s wealth to generate fund as well as to operate the present trend of social media used to launch sedition attack against the government.
“Economic speculators who were responsible with the alleged act seemed to copy what George Soros had done with the 1998 recession.
“I hope investigators from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Bank Negara will join forces to curb this problem,” he said.
Ahmad Maslan also said that the GST which takes effect in April will see reduction the prices of goods to suit the economic conditions in the country. If any unscrupulous individual is caught responsible in increasing items’ prices will be investigated under the Price Control Act and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
