R&D and cloning in the palm oil industry

The demand for vegetable oil increases between 4 to 6 per cent each year.

As such, there is a need to ensure there is enough supply to meet the market demand.

Director of Scientific Technique of Palmelit, Dr Tristan Durrand Gaselin said in order to fulfil this demand, more oil palm trees need to be planted.

In addition to this, this initiative needs to be supported by research and development (R&D) especially in the field of cloning.
