Ringgit opens higher against US dollar

The ringgit was higher against the US dollar this morning as traders bought the local note on commercial demand, dealers said.
At 9.28 am, the ringgit was quoted at 3.0715/0745 against the greenback compared with 3.0772/0792 at 5 pm yesterday.
The market was closed on Monday for the Thaipusam holiday and will close again on Friday for the Federal Territory Day celebration.
Meanwhile, the ringgit also improved against Asian currencies but dipped against the Euro and British Pound.
The local unit rose against the Singapore dollar to 2.4866/4895 compared with Tuesday's 2.4890/4917 and gained against the Japanese yen to 3.3797/3849 from 3.3972/4002 previously.
The ringgit, however, eased against the British pound to 4.8385/8442 compared with 4.8349/8396 on Tuesday and slipped against the euro to 4.1419/1472 from 4.1398/1428 yesterday.
