Secret Recipe no longer using beef gelatine in ingredients

Secret Recipe Malaysia, a home-grown lifestyle café chain, has replaced eight cakes containing bovine gelatine with fish-based gelatine since Sept 1.

They are Oreo Cheese, Raspberry Cheese, Cappuccino Cheese, Yogurt Cheese, Strawberry Marshmallow Cheese, Durian Cheese, Choc Cheese Berries, and Turkish Indulgence.

Secret Recipe is responding to a claim from a customer on a social site that some cakes sold at Secret Recipe allegedly contain beef gelatine.

"We wish to clarify that there were eight cakes previously containing bovine gelatine as indicated on the tags at the outlets, but they have since been replaced with fish-based gelatine.

"Effective from Sept 1, all our cakes are no longer using beef gelatine in the ingredients," Secret Recipe said in a response to Bernama over its Facebook.
