Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB), an agency set up to revive abandoned housing projects, plans to increase the construction of affordable houses and 1Malaysia People-Friendly Home projects to cater for future demand.
The move is in line with the government's goal to provide affordable housing for rural dwellers, it said in a statement.
"SPNB has mounted a two-week nationwide roadshow, kicking off in Sungai Petani, Kedah, on September 16.
"The SPNB 2013 Roadshow is an initiative undertaken to forge closer ties between SPNB and the locals in each state," the statement added.
The SPNB has been allocated RM320 million to build medium and low-cost houses under the "People Friendly Homes" and "Affordable Homes" programmes.
During the road show, SPNB also presented keys to 10 house owners in Kedah and will do the same in Pulau Pinang (10), Perak (10), Negeri Sembilan (10) and Johor (10).
It will also hand over offer letters to 51 applicants in Kedah, Pulau Pinang (4), Perak (31), Negeri Sembilan (25) and Johor (49).
