AHMAD RAZIF: Four sectors given priority are tourism, oil and gas industry, agriculture and biotechnology and communication.
The Terengganu Economic Transformation Laboratory (Aug 3-Sept 10) provides a comprehensive development plan for the state's core economic sectors.

Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said four sectors given priority are tourism, oil and gas industry, agriculture and biotechnology and communication.

"This is to reduce the state's dependence on revenue from petroleum due to the decline of world oil prices which has affected the state's revenue.

"It is time for us to ponder alternative sources of revenue that can be developed so that we are not badly hit by the world economic crisis," he said in reply to a question from Wan Abdul Hakim Wan Mokhtar (BN-Air Putih) in the state assembly on Tuesday.

About 150 participants from federal and state government departments, state government subsidiary companies and the private sector joined the discussions.
